Age 76, son of the late Andrew and Agnes Stahovic Janis. Mr. Janis graduated from East High School and he served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a machinist with Penn Brass and Copper for 32 years, retiring in 1990. After his retirement, he was a part-time bus attendant for the Erie City School District. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick Church, a member/officer of American Legion Post #771, and he enjoyed bird watching.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Brown Janis, on October 18, 2005; two brothers, John and Joseph Janis; and a sister, Helen Brunner.

Survivors include four sons, John W. Janis and his fiancé Denise MacKenzie, both of North East, James R. Janis (Nanette) of Harborcreek Twp., Edward P. Janis (Annette) and Daniel R. Janis (Deborah), all of Houston, Texas; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Ann Mae Alex of Erie; and several nieces and nephews.
