David Hammerstrom was born in Sioux Falls, SD on May 4, 1970, the son of Lloyd and Mary Ann (Smidt) Hammerstrom. He attended Lennox public schools and graduated from Lennox High School in 1988.

He lived in Lennox most of his life and moved to Sioux Falls one year ago where he had since lived. He was a heavy equipment operator for Gil Haugen Construction Company in Sioux Falls for the past ten years.

David had been a member of First English Lutheran Church in Lennox. He presently was a member of A.B.A.T.E Motorcycle Club in Sioux Falls. He especially enjoyed cars and motorcycles.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ann, on May 15, 1998 and his grandparents.

David died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, due to injuries received in a motorcycle accident near Brandon on Saturday. He attained the age of 32 years, one month and five days.

Grateful for having shared his life are his father and step-mother; Lloyd and Betty Hammerstrom of rural Lennox; his brother and sister-in-law: Daryl and Barb Hammerstrom of rural Davis; his nephews: Rick Hammerstrom and his fiance, Tracie Bowden, Rodney and Randy Hammerstrom; his very special friend, Mischelle Niehaus of Sioux Falls; special friend, Cole Nelson, of Lennox; close friends, Terry and Sarah Javers and Scott and Pam Javers; his foster sisters: Lori and Susan; plus his other relatives and many friends.
