Everett L. Auten, 84, of 710 W. Hatterman died Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born Dec. 3, 1918, in Cadwell to William and Anna Kirkwood, he married Doris Wallace in 1945. She died in 1971.

He also was preceded in death by seven brothers and five sisters.

He later married Catherine Aylward on March 10, 1972, in Bartonville. She survives.

Also surviving are one son, Charles (and Sandra) of Forrest City; one daughter, Connie (and Carl) Lorenz of Watertown, Wis.; one stepson, Jim Guppy of Canton; and one sister, Golda Comp of Marion.

He was a World War II Army veteran.

He worked for Keystone Steel & Wire Co. for many years before retiring.

Burial will be in Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria, where military honors will be accorded by his American Legion post.
