"Steven Lee Amsberry - he was born on November 7, 1951 at Broken Bow in Custer County, Nebraska, born to Richard Amsberry and the late Lucille (nee Price) Amsberry. He was baptized and he became a member of the United Methodist Church in Ansley, Nebraska. He attended Ansley public schools and graduated there with the Class of 1970 last spring. He departed this life on Sunday afternoon late, March 7, 1971, at the age of 19 years and four months. The accident happened about 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Price Amsberry. He leaves to mourn his parents, Richard and Charlotte (nee Pester) Amsberry, one sister, Debra Amsberry, and by four step-sisters, Barbara, now Mrs. James Werkmeister of Ansley, Betty, now Mrs. Jerry Bolliwitt of Broken Bow, Pamela, now Mrs. Mark Pearson of Thedford and Miss Julie Reed; also his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Price, now of Ogallala, Nebraska, and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Amsberry of Tecumseh, Nebraska; also by many aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Elvin H. Bratton, pastor of the United Methodist Church in Ansley, in the Methodist Church in Ansley on March 9, 1971 with Rev. Lowen Kruse and Rev. Loren Mullins, both of the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, also participating. Mrs. John W. Parks was the organist and Mrs. Paul Bennett, also of Ansley, was the soloist. Pallbearers were Ronnie Hanshew, Steve Staab, Gregg Crouch, Wayne Hogg, Sidney Runyan, and Ronnie Nielsen. Interment was made in the Ansley Cemetery, just north of Ansley in rural Custer County, Nebraska, with Parks Funeral Home of Ansley, John Parks, manager, in charge of arrangements."
