She was born in Vandergrift Feb. 14, 1927, to Francis William Kurten and Emma Katherine Slagle Kurten.
She married Leslie Andrew Stoughton Sr. May 24, 1947. She was a homemaker and had worked part time as a floral arranger. She attended Harrisville United Methodist Church. She enjoyed baking, cooking, decorating and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, L. Andrew Sr., at home in Harrisville; three sons, L. Andrew Stoughton Jr. and wife, Darla, of Harrisville; Donald J. Stoughton, of Wellsburg, W.Va., and Mark A. Stoughton and wife, Khrystal, of Amsterdam, Ohio; five grandchildren, L. Andrew Stoughton III and wife, Amy, Maggie E. Stoughton and husband, Dave Drogowski, Rebecca Brown, Aaron Carey and Debbie Semko; and seven great-grandchildren, Kellan Andrew, Eve Eileen, Cole Lee, Nicholas Evan, Paige Marie, Alyssa Marie and Donavone Andrew.
She is preceded in death by her parents and eleven brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014, at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock 16057, with the Rev. James Lewis, of Butler, presiding. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2014, and from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be at the Greenwood Memorial Park, in New Kensington. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society or a local charity of the givers choice.
