WALTHER,Margaret Crandall a long time resident of Vero Beach, died February 12. She was 84. Margaret was born in International Falls, Minnesota. Her family moved to Dayton, Ohio, in 1932 where she graduated from Steele High School in 1939. Margaret and her husband Jacob Walther lived in Kettering, Ohio from 1945 to 1985 where they raised three children. Mrs. Walther served as chairman of Men's National AAU Swimming records from 1956 until the early 1960's. She owned and managed two Calico Corners franchises, one in Miamisburg, Ohio, and another in Cincinnati, Ohio, from 1970 until the early 1980's. Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Moline, of Charlotte, North Carolina; sons Douglas Walther of Boston, Massachusetts, and Thomas Walther of Lititz, Pennsylvania; a brother, Carroll Lee Crandall, of Fort Worth, Texas; a sister-in-law, Frances Manuel Crandall of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jacob D. Walther in 2002. Memorial service will be held at David's United Church of Christ in Kettering, Ohio on March 25. Burial will be in David's Cemetery.
