Mitchell Breckenridge Dies, Farmed Entire Life in Area
E. Mitchell Breckenridge, 89, R.R. 4, Spring Creek rd., Rockford, secretary of the Guilford Mutual Fire Insurance Co. for several years and lifelong area farmer, died Thursday in the home where he was born.
Mr. Breckenridge was born March 20, 1879, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Breckenridge, and married the former Ethel J. McKerrall, in Chatham, Ontario, Canada, on Dec. 22, 1909. She died in 1951.
He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian church, the Winnebago county Farm Bureau, and the Guilford Hope Grange.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ina Bert, Rockford, and Mrs. Annetta Wells, Winnebago; a son, Ronald H., Decatur, Ala,; a sister, Mrs. William McEachran, Rockford; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday in the Burpee-Wood funeral home, 420 N. Main st., with Dr. John Williams, co-pastor of the Westminster Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood cemetery.
There will be no visitation. Friends may contribute to a memorial fund at the Westminster Presbyterian church.
