Mrs. L. G. Bell, 79, one of New Ulm's well-known pioneers, died at the Bell home, 307 S. State, Monday about 5:30 p.m. She had suffered a stroke several days previously.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Gedstad funeral home. The body will be there from Thursday afternoon until the time of the funeral. The Rev. F. R. Iseli will officiate at the services. The body will be cremated.
Louise Fischer, daughter of Richard and Ann Fischer, was born here June 26, 1872. She attended the New Ulm public schools and grew to womanhood here.
PLAYED TURNER THEATRE
During the early days much attention was given to theatricals in New Ulm and Turner Theater saw the staging of many home-talent plays. Mrs. Bell took an active interest in these plays and was always assigned a leading part.
She was a member of the Junior Pioneers, the Turner Ladies society and the Hecker Circle, G. A. R. and took an active interest in these local groups. She was a charter member of the Turner Ladies society.
Miss Fischer and Dr. L. G. Bell, one of New Ulm's early dentists, were married June 22, 1893. They have since made their home here, most of the time at 307 S. State.
HUSBAND SURVIVES
Mrs. Bell is survived by her husband, who is still active as a dentist here, and one son, Dr. Kurt Bell, who conducts a dental office in company with his father.
There is one surviving brother, Dr. Richard Fischer, well-known instructor at the University of Wisconsin.
Dr. and Mrs. Bell celebrated their Golden Wedding in 1943.
The family requests that flowers not be sent, but that those who desire should make donations to charities.
