Arthur F. Hamlin, 71, of 19 Noyes St., retired employee of the Department of Public Works offices, died yesterday in St. Luke's Memorial Hospital Center after a long illness.


He was born in Utica and was graduated from Assumption Academy. In 1945 he married Helen Fischer in Utica. Mr. Hamlin was employed by the DPW for 12 years, retiring in 1972. He previously had been a sales representative for several hardware equipment firms and had been branch manager in this area for Heverwyck Breweries. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and the Knights of Columbus.


Besides his wife he leaves a brother, Harold F., Morris.


The funeral will be at 9:30 Wednesday from the Williams Funeral Home and at 10 from Our Lady. of Lourdes Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 Tuesday .
