Mary Cooke, born on July 12, 1942, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2014. She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Claude "Nicky"; son, Chris; sisters, Jane Brackenridge of Clifton Forge, Jan Taylor of Amelia and Sandy Wheeler of Matoaca; brothers, Ben Nicely of Chesterfield and Paul Nicely of Amelia; many nieces and nephews that loved their "Aunt Mer" very much. She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia D. and James L. Nicely, Sr. and her brother James L. Nicely, Jr. "Butch" of Richmond. "Mary Lucy" as we all called her (her given name), was the most giving person possible. She was always willing to lend a hand and played a major role in helping raise all of her siblings. Her family and extended family loved her very much. She was a teacher in the Chesterfield County School System for 34 years. She touched the lives of many and made many friends. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday November 6, 2014 at Morrissett Funeral & Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd. (Rte. 10). Her Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday November 7, 2014 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Dale Memorial Park.
