They were added in 1895 by his elder son Frederick Dent Grant, but not published until 1903.] Peter d. Jan. 10, 1829 from drowning in the Kanawha River at Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
Peter's half brother by his father's second wife was Jesse Root Grant, father of Gen. Ulysses Simpson Grant, 18th President of the United States.
