David was born May 25, 1924 in Milaca to Fred & Ellen (Elving) Berggren. He grew up and attended school in the Milaca area. David served his country in the U.S. Army. He married Blanche Kubat on May 28, 1950 in Mora. They lived in St. Paul until moving to Foreston where in addition to farming he had many jobs over the years, including bar tending, clothing store clerk, insect exterminator, and custom painting. He retired in 1986 and moved to Rice to live with his daughter. He was a member of Sauk Rapids American Legion Post 254. David loved fishing, vegetable gardening, sight seeing, and traveling. He was an avid reader, and being a staunch democrat he followed politics very closely.
