Dr. Ronald Eugene Cowles of Sioux Falls passed away on March 8, 2005 at the age of 64, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charolotte, Florida following a struggle with cancer. Memorials may be given in care of First Baptist Church. Dr. Ronald Cowles pastored American Baptist churches from 1961-1986 in Kansas and Iowa. He then answered the call into denomination work, which brought him to Sioux Falls as Associate Executive Minister of American Baptist Churches of South Dakota. Later in his career Dr. Cowles accepted the position of Executive Minister of American Baptist Churches of the Dakotas.

Upon retirement, Dr. Cowles served as a volunteer pastor in Florida to a seasonal RV church. Dr. Ronald Cowles is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Fred and Ilela Cowles, as well as a granddaughter.

A service of Celebration will be held at the First Baptist Church in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, March 15 at 11:00 AM.
