According to Back Home: A History of Citrus County by Hampton Dunn, John was said to be the first settler of Inverness, Citrus County (then Hernando County) Florida.
Civil War Pension Index shows that John was married to Parthenia Morgan.

Courtesy of Find A Grave contributor David Bruty : John C. Hargreaves served in the 4th Georgia Cavalry - Confederate States Army. He died in 1876 of malaria at what is now Inverness, Florida and was buried at Fort Cooper Cemetery located between Inverness & Floral City, Florida. He was a Master Mason (F & AM).
AS QUOTED from John Dame Sr ~ the great grandson of John C Hargreaves.
John is buried at the Rooks Cemetery his marker was moved by his granddaughter to Inverness.

NOTE: The headstone in the photographs were taken in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Inverness, Citrus County, Florida.
