NORTON, Ruby E., age 86, a former Hamilton resident, went home on Thursday, July 1, 2004, at her Lawrenceburg, Kentucky residence. She was one of ten children born to Oppie and Maggie (Whitaker) Whitaker, of Somerset, Kentucky, on January 20, 1918. She married Jess Norton on May 5, 1937. Out of this marriage came seven children; twenty-one grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren. She centered her life around God and her family. Ruby was a longtime member of the East Hamilton Baptist church, and in later years attended the 1st Church of God on Pleasant Ave. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Jess; daughter, Elaine Egitto; a son, Jackie B. Norton; her parents; five brothers; and two sisters. Her five surviving children are Jess (Pat) Norton, Atlanta, GA, Barbara (Jerry) Bebout, Crossville, TN, Peggy (Don) Gilbert, Hamilton, OH, Maggie (Wayne) Hanks, and Jim (Mary Sue) Norton, both of Lawrenceburg, KY. Visitation will be from 12noon-2PM Saturday in the Zettler Funeral Home, 2646 Pleasant Ave. Funeral services will be at 2PM Saturday in the funeral home, followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.
