Lorene G. Hays, 98, of Monroe City, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Monroe City Manor, Monroe City, Missouri. She was born February 2, 1916 in Monroe City, Missouri the daughter of Loren and Olive Buckman Yates. She was a 1934 graduate of St. Stephen High School, Indian Creek, Missouri. She was a member of the St. Stephen Catholic Church, Indian Creek, Missouri and Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Monroe City, Missouri. Lorene loved spending time with her family and friends. She married Matthew Joseph Hays, July 20, 1938 at St. Stephens Church, he preceded her in death January 10, 2007. Survivors include four sons: Joseph Loren Hays and wife Joan; Robert Matthew Hays and wife Jan; Damion Lawrence (Larry) Hays; and Dennis Gerard Hays and wife Kayne. Four Daughters: Alice Patricia Simmons and husband Howard; Cecilia Ann Arnold; Dorothy Marie Ritter and husband John; and Mildred Bernadette Jones and husband Charles. She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, one grandson Charlie Ludwhig. Daughter in law Gloria Hays. Son in law Robert Arnold. Four brothers: Glenn, Martin, Melvin and Wilford Yates. Three sisters: Genevieve Yates, Emma Maude Lewis and Rosemary Gwinner. Mass of christian burial will be held 10:00 am Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the St. Stephens Catholic Church, Indian Creek, Missouri, Fr. Mike Penn will officiate, burial will be from the St. Stephens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 pm Wednesday evening, with a family rosary beginning at 3:45 pm and a Parrish scripture service beginning at 6:30 pm at the Garner Funeral Home, Monroe City, Missouri. Active pallbearers will be Mrs. Hays grandsons: Chris Ludwhig, Clint Hays, Mike Simmons, Tim Simmons, Tom Simmons, Chris Arnold, Brant Arnold, Rob Arnold, Shannon Hays, Jay Ritter, Matt Ritter, Stephen Hays, Eric Hays and Jason Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Mrs. Hays grandaughters: Debbie Trau, Kelly Klingle, Christin Uyl, Angela Ritter, Rachel Vollrath, Stephanie Shultz, Heather Jones, Elizabeth Hays and Danielle Hays. Memorials have been suggested to the Holy Rosary School building fund, St. Stephens Cemetery or the Holy Rosay/St. Stephens Pro Life.
