Loren Willis Harmon, 85, of Ashland, died Tuesday, July 17, 2007 at Kingston of Ashland Nursing Home. Loren was born February 9, 1922 in Tarkio, Missouri to Fred and Lettie (Swinehart) Harmon. He moved to the Ashland area in his early teens and graduated from Ashland High School in 1940. He served as a Merchant Marine during World War II in both the Atlantic and Pacific theatres. He married Donna Stitzel on February 9, 1942 who survives. Loren was a devoted family man. He retired from Hyco in 1983. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Tarkio, National Rifle Association, and State American Legion. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and hunting. Loren will be deeply missed by his wife Donna, children Beverly (Franklin) Allgire of Sullivan, Cherlynn (Maurice) Hootman of Mt. Gilead, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren with one more on the way, and sister Doris (Fred) Jollay of Nankin. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and a special grand-daughter Betty Jean Allgire, also twin Allgire grandsons. A private family service is being arranged by Roberts Funeral Home -- Ashland Chapel. Burial will be at Ashland Co. Memorial Park following the service.
