Funeral services were held Friday, Sept. 8 at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church in LaFayette. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Cotney is survived by three daughters, Minnie Lashley of Penton, Ala., Doris Collins of Anniston, Ala., and Jean Schlander of St. Petersburg, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Ruth S. Cotney of LaFayette; 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Born June 18, 1899 in Chambers County, Mrs. Cotney was a lifelong resident of Chambers County and a homemaker. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie D. Cotney; her son, John W. Cotney; three daughters, Lora Mae Cotney, Bertha C. Davis and Ruth C. Smith; and her grandson, Michael Collins.
