Mrs. Deig was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, the Quilter’s Club at the church, the Riverbend Association, Indiana Farm Bureau and a lifetime member of both the Eagles Auxiliary and the Owls.
Surviving Nellie are two daughters, Mary (Gary) Weinzapfel and Delores (Tim) Hudson; two sons, Gerry (Penny) Deig and Bob (Bambi) Deig; grandchildren, Kelly (Kirk) Birchler, Karen (Jerry) Crow, Jamie (Tommy) Jones, Wendy (Phil) Wilson, Matt (Beth) Deig, Sally (Malik) Deig, Brandon (Amber) Deig and Brittney (Brandon) Deig and eighteen great grandchildren.
Nellie was preceded in death by her husband of almost 60 years, Marcellus “Sally” Deig in 2000; by two sons, Marcellus and Donald Deig; two grandchildren, Donny Weinzapfel and Becky Deig Evans; a great grandchild, Skylar Crow, three sisters and seven brothers.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, September 11, 2015 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Rev. Brian Emmick officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Philip Church cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday at Pierre Funeral Home, 2601 W. Franklin Street and from 9:30 A.M. until service time on Friday at St. Philip Church.
