Mrs. Betty Anne Boyer, 72, of Jefferson, died on Sunday, March 20, 2005 at her residence. She was the wife of the late Herschel T. Boyer Jr., who died in September, 1998.
Born Jan. 7, 1933 in Jefferson, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Grace Culler Brown. Mrs. Boyer was a devoted member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Jefferson, where she taught the Adult Sunday School Class. She loved playing the piano and organ, was an avid gardener and enjoyed sewing.
In early years, she worked for the Landis Jewelry Store, Frederick, and later worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in the Jefferson area.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie Anne Proffitt of Jefferson; a granddaughter, Stacey L. Boyer of Hagerstown; one sister, Alice Sours of Jefferson; two brothers-in-law, Lester Luhn of Feagaville and Michael Boyer and wife Janie of Jefferson; sister-in-law Mary VanSant and husband Ed of Texas; a special cousin, Patsy Ruthvin of Frederick and special friend Charles Purcell of Hagerstown. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Alan Boyer.
The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 24 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 3864 Jefferson Pike, Jefferson, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Virginia K. Price officiating. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Hospice of Frederick County Inc., P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702-1799, or to the American Cancer Society, 1393 Progress Way, Suite 908, Eldersburg, MD 21784.
