Betty Jean Hedrick Porter, age 75, of Connersville, passed away on December 18, 2007 at Reid Hospital in Richmond.
Born in Indianapolis, IN on April 2, 1932, she is the daughter of William and Nellie Dokes Norman, both who precede her in death.
On August 5, 2006 in Connersville, she married Don C. Porter. She is a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and was involved in the Senior Citizens Center. She had worked in local nursing homes, been employed for 5 years at Philco Ford and most recently worked in private home health care. She enjoyed helping people and animals, visiting the nursing homes and listening to Christian Music.
She is survived by her husband, daughters and sons in law, Linda & Robert Tompkins of Liberty, Tina & Robin Goins of Connersville, and Beth & Terry Loyd of Liberty; step daughters, Melinda Porter of NY, Susie Biggs of NJ and Brenda Craig of Milton; half brothers, Maynard Norman and George Norman both of Connersville; half sister, Lillie Mae Sloan of Connersville; step sister, Wanda Jean Mercanthal of Florida; grandchildren, James Isaacs, Tyra Voiles, Joshua Merz, Kristen Goins, Heather Loyd and Jennifer Judge; several step grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews; and special friends, Harold & Irene Ross and Margaret Hurd.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband of 45 years, John Hedrick who passed away on July 28, 2002; half brothers, Johnny and William Norman; and her foster parents, Mr.& Mrs. William Reifel.
Funeral services will be held at Urban Winkler Funeral Home on Saturday December 22, 2007 at 10:00 am with Rev. Gene Ott of the Bethany Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be at Orange North Cemetery.
