Emil H. Abdenour, 86, died March 7, 2006. Shortly after his birth in Lawrence, Mass., he and his family moved to Akron where he lived the rest of his life. He attended Central High School (Class of '36) and was an enthusiastic member of its class reunion committee. He attended the University of Akron, majoring in art and engineering. He worked at Goodyear Aircraft (later Aerospace) and the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, retiring with 37 years of service. Emil enjoyed sports and was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavs and Ohio State. He was a bowler and an avid golfer who was proud of this two holes-in-one. As an artist he spent hours creating his own greeting cards and working on origami. A kind, gentle man, he was a wonderful husband, uncle, brother-in-law who loved his family dearly, especially his nieces and nephews. He will be missed more than words can say. Preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jamelie Abdenour; brother Joseph E. Abdenour; and nephew, Michael, he is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; sister and brother-in-law, Lourice and Hy Budoff; brother Eugene, sister-in-law, Dorothy Abdenour, all of Akron; many nieces and nephews. A very sincere thank you to the people at Hospice Care Center who were so kind and took such good care of Emil. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Thursday from 4 to 8 PM, with a wake service at 7:30. A Funeral Liturgy will be held Friday, March 10, 2006 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery with Fr. Basil Samra officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph Melkite Catholic Church, 600 W. Exchange St., Akron 44302 or Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron 44333.
