Company D "Mount Pleasant Rifles" of Spotsylvania County, 30th Virginia Infantry, Corse's Brigade, Pickett's Division, 1st Corps, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A.

Residence Spotsylvania County; 23 years old.
Enlisted on 4/26/1861, he was mustered into "D" Co. VA 30th Infantry as a Private.
Absent, 3/1862.
Wounded 5/15/1864 at Drewry's Bluff, Va.; "shocked by shell" and contusion of left side; returned to duty 5/30/1864.
Hospitalized as "sick and wounded" 1/4/1865 at Chimborazo Hospital, Richmond, Va.; furloughed 1/11/1865 for 60 days to Spotsylvania County.
No further record.

In May 1902, he applied for a Confederate pension in Spotsylvania County, Va., having "no income" due to "lumbago & neuralgia", which prevented him from "earning a living". He was approved in November 1902.
The 1910 Census lists him as 73 years old & married to Sarah for 41 years.

The 30th Infantry Regiment completed its organization at Fredericksburg, Virginia, in June, 1861. Men of this unit were from Fredericksburg and the counties of Spotsylvania, Caroline, Stafford, and King George.
