AMORY – James Carson ""Hog-Tiger"" French, 67, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at his home in Amory. J.C. was born February 27, 1947, in Amory. He was the son of the late Dave Davis and Louella Ezell French. He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church in Amory. He attended West Amory High School where he was an outstanding football player for the Wildcats. He was the offensive center #58 and defensive linebacker. This is where he earned the name ""Hog & Tiger."" J.C.was an employee of the Wax Company, Red Kapp, Blue Bell of Amory and Tupelo, also Reed's Manufacturing Company of Tupelo. He loved to fish and hunt, enjoyed treating the kids in the community with candy and stuffed animals. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, loved to cook and barbecue and spend time with his family and friends.

A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014, at St. James United Methodist Church with Minister Pearlie M. Ezell officiating. Burial will follow in United Memorial Cemetery. Darden and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his daughter, Stephanie French of Amory; three brothers, Willie L. (Mary Lucille) French of Tupelo, Calvin (Phyllis) French and Elzie Brown, both of Chicago; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Brown of Utica, N.Y., Mary Davis of St. Louis and Mable Anson of Kingland, Ga.; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and a very special dear friend, Sarah ""Jett"" Williams (known as Momma Jett) of Amory; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Davis and Doris Brown.

Visitation will be today at the funeral home from 2 to 5 p.m. and family hour from 5 to 6 p.m. The body will lie in repose one hour prior to service on Saturday at the church.
