Copeland was born March 12, 1928, in Norman to Jesse and Ruby (Thomas) Copeland.
He attended school at Earlsboro. He was a self-employed carpenter and contractor.
He married Faye Dobbs Oct. 1, 1947, in Shawnee.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion, Tecumseh.
Copeland lived in the Earlsboro area from 1928 to 1950. He then moved to New Mexico and then Shawnee in 1964.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and one brother.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Copeland of Shawnee; son, Wayne Copeland of Shawnee; daughter, Margaret Schwabe of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren; brother, Conley Copeland of Checotah; sister, Barbara Hollingsworth of Tecumseh; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the chapel of Walker Funeral Service of Shawnee with the Rev. Leroy Kerbo and the Rev. Dr. Bob Searle officiaing. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Park.
