pub in the Lockhart Post Register on Sep 16, 1965 - MRS. W. K. HARRIS - Friends and relatives of Mrs. W. Karl Harris were saddened to learn of her death at a hospital in Red Bank, N. J. on September 4th. She was buried beside her husband in Richmond, VA. Hortense Ridout, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. N. P. Ridout, was born October 21, 1895. She lived the early years of her life in the Seawillow community, finishing school there in 1909. A graduate at Lockhart High School in 1913, she attended the Univ of Texas. The Ridouts moved to Lockhart where she taught school. She was married to W. Karl Harris on July 27, 1919 and to this union a son James , was born. The Harris' moved to Richmond, VA in 1934, where they lived until James graduated from the Univ of Richmond. She was a member of the Seventh Street Christian Church at Richmond at her death. After Mr. Harris passed away in 1954, Mrs. Harris went to Morrislown. NJ to make her home with her son; later they moved to Rumson, NJ. She is survived by her son; 3 grandchildren; 12 nieces and nephews; 3 of whom live in Lockhart: Mrs. Buford Alexander. Mrs. Chas. Goss and C. C. Chapman. Other relatives include Mrs. W. B. Ridout and several cousins. Often a bit of nostalgia for her hometown of Lockhart appeared in Mrs. Harris' letters. She visited here occasionally, but during the past 5 to 6yrs ill health prevented it.
