Tulsa resident Mildred Rose, 97, passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009. She was born July 28, 1911, near Marshall, Arkansas to Walter and Mamie Parmenter Jordan.

Her family moved near Afton, Oklahoma in 1917 and then to Shawnee in 1921. She lived on the family farm for thirty years with her husband George Rose and continued on the farm for another 30 years until moving to a retirement center in Tulsa in 2000. She cooked for Grove School 17 years while on the farm. Mildred is still remembered for the wonderful hot rolls she cooked at school and the home baked cookies she always had on hand at home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ten siblings, her first husband, Thomas J. Sympson, their daughter, Emma Pearl Horne, her second husband, George G. Rose and her great-grandson, Keith Hall.

Survivors include son, George Raymond Rose and wife Audrey of Tulsa, grandchildren and spouses, Ron and Karen Horne of Flower Mound, Texas, Sharon and Larry Hall of Moore, Linda and Scott Craig of Memphis, Tennessee and Karen Rose and Daron Hitt of Midwest City, great grandchildren, Kai Hall, Helen Craig and Emma Hitt and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Walker Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Larry Sparks officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Walker Funeral Service.
