The Littles came to Iron River before the turn of the 20th century and lived here continuously thru-out the past sixty years. "Grandma" Little had been in poor health for some time, but until recently had been up and about. She and her husband were true pioneers, for they were among the early settlers who carved a home in the wilderness, worked hard, and raised a large family, many of whom still reside in this community. He(r) family may indeed be comforted that her passing marked the close of this life for a woman of stalwart qualities and an ever kind and helpful character.
She was the former ---Ellen Larmont (Learmont) and was born May 15, 1865, in Saskatchewan, Canada. There she married the late Wm. Little who passed away twenty-one years ago. She was a member of the Calvary Presbyterian Church of this city and its Ladies' Aid.
Survivors are six sons, John, (William) Edward and Phillip, Iron River; Hugh of Port Wing; Charles and Walter of Post Falls, Idaho; four daughters, Mrs. Ursula Keller of Duluth, St. Louis County, MN, USA; Mrs. Mabel Roe, Waukasha, WI; Mrs. Bertha Armbruster and Mrs. Ellen Selhin, both of Iron River; 35 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and one brother, Alex Larmont (Learmont), of Houben, Michigan.
