Harold Jackson “Jack” Burnett, age 62 of Tazewell, VA died Monday, October 27, 2014 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, TN. He was born November 20, 1951 at Squire, WV and was a son of the late Clyde H. Burnett, Sr. and Ollie B. Griffith Burnett. Jack was a 1969 Graduate of Big Creek High School and was an avid WVU football fan. He was a retired Federal Mine Inspector for MSHA, having been employed with them for over thirty-two years. After retiring, Jack started his own business consulting several local mines, quarries, and other related businesses. He was a Master Mason belonging to the Elbert Munsey Masonic Lodge # 298 A.F. & A.M. in Rocky Gap, VA. Mr. Burnett had a great appreciation for motorcycles, old cars, and classic rock music. His family was his life, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Elizabeth Miley; two brothers, Clyde H. Burnett, Jr. and Douglas E. Burnett.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of thirty-nine years, Lucy Lynn Addington Burnett; one daughter, Heather Renee Burnett of Radford, VA; one son, Bryan Jackson Burnett of Tazewell, VA; three grandchildren, Morgan, Logan, and Jaxon Mundy; two sisters, Kathleen Beattie of Sierra Vista, AZ and Sandra Whitt and husband, Clarence of Centreville, VA; a host of nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends also survive.
Funeral services for Harold Jackson “Jack” Burnett will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2014 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA with the Rev. Clemmie Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA. Pallbearers will be Johnny Griffith, Josh Denny, Duard Addington, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home after 12:00 p.m. noon on Friday, October 31, 2014.
