BROWN, Helen S. (Berg) (Age 89) Passed away peacefully Monday, September 7, 2009 at her home. She was born May 19, 1920 in Bruce, North Dakota to Mathias and Catherine Berg, the fifth of thirteen children. She married Arthur J. Brown, Jr. in October 1949 and became the beloved mother of four children, grandmother of eight and great grandmother of eight. Her gardens and family were her greatest loves with Christmas and birthdays celebrated by large family dinners complete with lots of home cooked favorites and pastries. She is survived by her husband of nearly 60 years at the home, as well as her children, Rex and Carla Brown, Mimi and Jeff Strom, Eric Brown, Shelly and Harry Cashman, Diane Brown; grandchildren, Lisa, Jason, Shawn, Corey, Patrick, Jamie, Katie, Grant; great grandchildren, Mariah, Andrew, Skye, Avery, Camden, Faithlynn, Ellianna, Lance; sisters, Emma Meagher,Lenore Huettl, Ida Berg; brothers, Harold Berg, Herman Berg and Richard Berg. She was preceded in death by a son, Brian T. Brown; sisters, Margaret Berg, Inez Berg, Hilda Michaels, Maryann Nosbusch; brothers, George Berg, Omar Berg; and her parents, Matt and Catherine Berg. Visitation will be Thursday, September 10th from 5 to 9 PM. Funeral Services will be at 11 AM on Friday, September 11, 2009 in the Alwin Chapel at HAZEN & JAEGER FUNERAL HOME, 1306 North Monroe Street, Spokane, WA. A reception will follow at the VFW Club, 212 South David Street, Spokane Valley, WA. The family would like to thank Colleen Burns, Becca Schreve and Kara Vergo of Hospice for the loving care they provided.
