Susan Wallent Easterling, born November 10, 1949, joyfully accepted the invitation to be a bride of Christ on Monday, October 6, 2014 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her soul mate, adventure partner and husband of 42 years, Jesse K. Easterling, her loving children, Heather A. Easterling (Jason Siebold) and Jesse "J.R." Easterling, her sister Diane Monroe (Steve and their children) and her brother Marc Wallent. Susan's talents were many, she was a respected and well-liked pediatric physical therapy assistant in Montgomery County Schools, an accomplished seamstress, swimmer, guitarist, potter, weaver, Sunday School teacher choir member, Holy Yoga teacher, community volunteer and prayer warrior for many. She was an alumni of Bremer High School in Midlothian, IL and Northern Illinois University. She enthusiastically enjoyed the outdoors by hiking, biking and camping with her family and dog, Buddy, throughout the United States. Her gentle spirit, strong faith in Jesus Christ, and her warm smile will be missed by all who knew her. The family would like to express our thanks for the care given by Good Samaritan Hospice, the New River Valley Emmaus Community, and the members of Central United Methodist Church. Susan and the family would also like to thank the students, parents, teachers, therapists, bus drivers and administrators in the Montgomery County School system for their many kind letters, cards and prayers during her time of illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the NRV Emmaus Scholarship Fund, c/o Central United Methodist Church, 803 Wadsworth St, Radford, VA 24141.
