Brenda Denise Smith Adkinson

KEITHVILLE, LA - Services for Mrs. Brenda Denise Smith Adkinson, 46, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Keithville. Officiating will be Rev. Mike Stowell. Burial will be at Pollard Cemetery near Converse, LA.

Family will receive friends at Rose-Neath's Southside Chapel from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2010.

Brenda went to be with the Lord on March 4, 2010 after a long, lengthy courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Adkinson retired from the Caddo Parish School Board where she made many life long friends that are special and remained very close to her to this day. Brenda is preceded in death by her father, Huey Wayne Smith; grandparents, Annie Smith and Mr. E.L. Smith and grandfather, Smith Pinkston; mother-in-law, Lillie Beth Adkinson and brother-in-law, Jimmie Dale Adkinson.

Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband, David "Peanut" Adkinson, with 24 years of marriage, whom she loves from the bottom of her heart. Two wonderful, loving and beautiful daughters, whom she is very proud of and considered "The Best thing she ever did in life", Amanda Lyn Adkinson and fiancé Brandon Lynn Musick of Keithville and Crystal Kay Adkinson of Keithville; mother, Dorothy Jean Smith Foley of Carthage, TX and loving friend Nolan Gray of Carthage, TX. Her sister, Debra Jean Cole and brother-in-law, Ricky B. Cole of West Point, Mississippi.

Brenda is survived by her sister-in-laws, Carolyn Heath and Tanya Adkinson-Carpenter, and Michelle Adkinson of Keithville; brother-in-laws Russell Heath, Richard Adkinson, Eugene Adkinson of Keithville and Scott Carpenter of St.John, Canada. Her nephews Randy Heath, Scottie Carpenter, Jeffrey Carpenter, Steven Hickman, Nicholas Singelton, of Keithville, LA and Kevin Cole of West Point, MS. Her nieces Tammy Kay Heath, Kelli Heath, Christina Heath, Alisha Singelton and Heather Raskey.

She is also survived by her grandmother Willie B. Pinkston. Aunts and uncles, Ray and Brenda Smith, Roy and Connie Smith, Alice and late husband Edward Smith, Joy and Chester Strauss, Leonard and Pat Smith and Mattie and late husband Joe Allen and Mona Jean Smith.

Pallbearers will be Randy Long, Ray Smith, Archie Shaw, David Pickerel, Russell Heath and Steven Lindsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Byron Bradham, Richard Adkinson, and Frankie Westerfield.

Memorials or donations may be made to The American Cancer Society or WK Cancer Treatment Center.

In lieu of flowers, they may be sent to the donor's choice.
