Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral and Cremation Services with James A. McKenzie leading the service. Burial will be later at Carleton Cemetery.

Dean was born May 23, 1921, in Carleton to Walter and Elva (Axtell) Lautenschlager. He graduated from Carleton High School in 1939.

Dean worked for Consolidated Air in San Diego from 1940 to 1944. While in San Diego, Dean met the love of his life, Lucy Martin, and on Dec. 3, 1943, he and Lucy were married at the Chapel of Roses in Chula Vista, Calif. They had three children — two daughters and a son.

In 1969, Dean and Lucy moved to Kearney where he was one of the first employees for the newly opened Eaton Plant. He worked for Eaton until his retirement in 1983.

Dean was a volunteer weather watcher and volunteer fireman while living in Carleton. Following retirement, Dean enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, metal detecting, attending auctions, finding antiques and treasures and meeting many wonderful friends.

Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lucy of Kearney; daughters, Sandra Lautenschlager of York and Arlene Nau of Jacksonville, Fla.; son, Alan Lautenschlager and his wife, Lisa, of Kearney; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Wayne.
