ATHENS — Vernon L. “Junior” Ackley, age 78, of Athens, died Saturday evening, Feb. 5, 2011, at his home. Born April 4, 1932, in Hebbardsville, he was the son of the late Vern V. and Sadie Morris.
He attended Albany schools and was an automobile mechanic. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War, serving in Okinawa, and a member of the Chillicothe VFW.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Esta Bryson, Marie Ackley and Irene Sickels; and two brothers, Carl and Clarence Ackley.
