Mrs. Maggie Backes, 89, of Bartonville died at her home Monday. Born in Germany May 2, 1865, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson and came to this country when she was 20 years old.
She married Joseph Backes in Peoria in 1926 and he died about a year ago.
Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Bryan of Peoria; two sons, William Zorn of Peoria and Henry Zorn of Bartonville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
