Mrs. Thurston W. Allen -

The death of Annie Maria, wife of Thurston W. Allen, West Torbrook, occurred recently at her home. Although in ill health for some time her demise came very suddenly and unexpectedly. She was born at Torbrook, 78 years ago, a daughter of the late John and Lucy MacGregor. She was a fine upstanding christian woman and highly esteemed in the community. She was a devoted member of the Torbrook Baptist Church. The late Mrs. Allen was twice married, her first husband being Elisha Cooney. Her second, Thurston W. Allen, survives. Funeral services were held from the home and Torbrook Baptist Church, with her pastor, Rev. P.M. Hamilton, officiating. Hymns rendered by the choir were “Forever with the Lord”, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” and a duet “Goodnight and Good Morning” by Mrs. L. Banks and Mrs. P.M. Hamilton. Burial was at Torbrook Mines. Pallbearers were: Frank Thompson, Leveret Parker, Aubrey Sanford and Martin Uhlman.
