On 04 Mar 1866 Sarah Lucinda married Arvin Rufus Stoddard in Springport, Michigan by the justice of the peace.

In the years after their marriage they had five children, and their names are; Clara Augusta born 1867, George Abner born 21 Sep 1869, died 11 Nov 1936, Ary Arvin born 1874-1876, Eva Pearl born 05 Oct 1879, died 23 Nov 1921, Erie Stoddard.

He deserted his wife Sarah Lucinda on 26 June 1908 to live in "The Michigan Soldiers' Home" in Kent Co., Michigan a short while.

On his return his son told him if he did this again, never to come back. He left again on 18 July 1912 and died 26 April 1928 in the Veteran's Home in Grand Rapids never to return to his wife. These dates are according to his grandaughter's memory Goldie F. Howard. Goldie had loved her grandmother very much, seemed as much as she did her own mother.

His records indicate different dates. According to these records he applied for admission on 03 Jun 1908 and was admitted 25 Aug 1908. He requested and was granted an honorable discharge on 25 Aug 1908 (yes I know, but that's what the records say admitted and discharged on the same date). On 05 Oct 1917 he reapplyed for and received readmission, and stayed until his death on 26 Apr 1928.

His records for The Michigan Soldiers' Home can be found on the films #0,925,170 and #925,039,053 stored in Salt Lake City, Utah. The family History Library; look for Register No. 5178.
