John Anthony Milewski passed away Feb. 6, 2006, at Nampa Care Center. John was born on Feb. 25, 1923, in Calumet City, IL.
During World War II, John was in the Polish Navy out of Canada and later in the U.S. Army Cavalry. Prior to and after the Korean Conflict, he was in the U.S. Air Force.
He married Joan Rutledge on May 4, 1953.
He received his Honorable Discharge after more than eight years of military service, going then to DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago to learn electronics. Then the family moved to California — the heart of the new aerospace industry. John started his career with Chance Vought and Boeing, but retired from Lockheed with 31 years of service.
He and Joan moved to Idaho several years after retiring.
He is survived by his wife, Joan E. Milewski of Caldwell, ID; four children, Mark, Lt. Col. Michael, Tony and Heidi; 15 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A viewing and funeral service will be Feb. 11, at Dakan Funeral Chapel, Caldwell. Graveside services will be held Feb. 13, at the Idaho State Veterans Cemetery, Boise.
