Eleanor Marian Ludke, age 83, of Chilton, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at Century Ridge in Chilton.
She was born July 8, 1928 in Arland, WI, daughter of the late Henry & Alma (Wuorenma) Anderson. She married Richard W. ""Dick"" Ludke on December 29, 1948 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Almena; he preceded her in death on November 11, 2009.
After moving to Chilton, Eleanor worked for the Commercial Bank, and later retired from Manna-Pro in Chilton in 1985. She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church in Chilton where she also belonged to the Women's Guild; she also belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and volunteered countless hours at the Shepherd's Attic. Eleanor possessed a beautiful collection of Depression glass, enjoyed gardening, needlework and was a big fan of all the dogs in her life, especially Ed. She had a wonderful sense of humor and took great pride in cooking and eating a lot of traditional Norwegian dishes.
Eleanor was a kind, soft spoken person who loved to be around family and friends. Her deep concern for the well being of others led her do volunteer her circumstances as part of an 8 year Alzheimer's research project through UW Madison. She was a strong Christian woman who knew that 'You had to laugh a little, or you'll cry a lot'. Eleanor used her life to gently coach her children through their lives, leading by example, and offering soft advice when needed.

Survivors include her children: Cindy (Mike) Meade of Tennessee, Laurie (Dale) Johnson of Lodi, Julie (Joe) Clark of Lodi, Dawn (Dave) Schmidt of Chilton, R.C. (Laurie) Ludke of Chilton; a daughter-in-law: Ginny Ludke of Madison; 12 grandchildren: Michael J. Meade, Jason (Summer) Meade, Chad (Joy) Files, Jared Files, Josiah Ludke, C.J. (Cathy) Davis, Kaitlyn Scott, Peter Clark, Adam Clark, Dylan Schmidt, Dayna Schmidt, Olivia Ludke; 8 great grandchildren; a brother: Edward Anderson; and a sister: Anita Erickson. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Dick; a son: Lynn Ludke; and a brother: Art Anderson.

Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2012 at St. Martin Lutheran Church (717 Memorial Dr.) in Chilton with the Rev. Wayne Huebner officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM on Sunday, April 15, 2012. A memorial fund has been established for the St. Martin Lutheran Church in the name of Eleanor Marian Ludke.
