Elizabeth, who married Jones Williams, was the daughter of Richard Ledbetter II and Mary M. Walton Ledbetter. Elizabeth is named in her mother, Mary Walton Ledbetter's will, as Elizabeth Williams.
Also, It's worth noting that Elizabeth Ledbetter was not married to John Williams, whose children migrated to Henry County, Virginia.
Elizabeth, wife of that John Williams was a WEAVER, daughter of John Weaver, who died in 1769 in Brunswick Co. VA. John Weaver's will not only named his daughter, Elizabeth Williams but also named his grandson, Frederick Williams, who was the eldest son named in the estate of said John Williams, who married Elizabeth WEAVER. The author of a widely circulated published Ledbetter genealogy made an erroneous positive identification on the wife of this John Williams based on circumstantial evidence of a 'vague deed' between Richard Ledbetter and said, John Williams. This author said it was a "deed of gift from Richard Ledbetter to his daughter, Elizabeth." Indeed, if one reads "that deed" this is not correct, and it was instead "a trade" with no known or implied family connection, but was instead neighbors trading with neighbors. To compound that error, others have failed to notice that this John and Elizabeth Williams children mostly settled in Henry County, Virginia.
