Son of Delilah Robertson and Solomon Starr. He married three times: 1) Hester Ann Deck, 2) Martha Deck (m. 5 April 1866 in Verm. Co., IL.), and 3) Mary David. He served as a private in the Civil War in Co. B, 125 IL US INF. According to descriptive rolls, he enlisted at the age of 21 on Aug 10, 1862 in Myersville, IL.; at the time he was 5'10" with brown hair and blue eyes and was a farmer in Newell Township, Verm. Co., IL.
