She was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Berthoud to Reuben and Margaret (Aschenbrenner) Brehm. Barbara was raised in the Berthoud, Johnstown and Loveland areas on the family farm. She graduated from Loveland High School in 1957.
Barbara married Edward J. Spreng on Aug. 17, 1963, in Fort Collins, Colo. She moved to Johnstown in 1967 from Loveland. As a homemaker and mother, Barbara was involved with 4-H, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts as her children grew up. She was also the accountant at Johnstown Feed & Seed until her retirement in 1996. After retirement, her life revolved around her grandchildren.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Johnstown. Barbara enjoyed ceramics, sewing and macrame.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and a niece, Linda Brehm.
She is survived by her husband, one son and daughter-in-law, one daughter, one brother and sister-in-law, three grandchildren, nieces and nephews [survivors names omitted].
Family will be present to receive friends at a visitation from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 6, at Faith Lutheran Church in Johnstown. Interment at Johnstown Cemetery.
