Mrs. Amelia Brantley McAfee, age 78, of Tennille, died Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Washington County Extended Care Facility. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25th at 2:00 p.m. at the May and Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Zeta Cemetery in Tennille. Elder Kenneth Brantley will officiate. Pallbearers will be Erik Orr, A.J. Orr, Steve Joiner, Benjie Joiner, Carl Moye, William McMaster and Dustin Blue.
Mrs. McAfee was a native and lifelong resident of Washington County the daughter of the late Lonnie Thomas Brantley and the late Catherine Meeks Brantley. She was a longtime employee of the Sandersville Coca Cola Bottling Company working as the company bookkeeper. Mrs. McAfee was a member of the Twin City Country Club where she was an avid golfer. Amelia loved to cook and read. She is predeceased by her son Larry James McAfee and her son-in-law Randy Dunn.
Survivors are; her husband James A. McAfee of Tennille, children, Patsy M. Dunn of Tennille, Julie M. Orr and her husband Allen of Sandersville and Lynn M. Gilbert and her husband Bill of Statesboro, and grandchildren, Erik B. Orr of Atlanta, A.J. Orr and his wife Kelli of Houston TX., Anna C. Dunn of Athens, Rachel M. Gilbert of Greenville, SC., and Brooke M. Gilbert of Statesboro.
The family will be at the home of Julie and Allen Orr on Sunhill – Grange Road and they will greet friends from 12:30 p.m. until the hour of service on Saturday at the Funeral Home.
