Willie E. (Josh) Billingsly, Farmer of Hammond, Dies

Willie E. (Josh) Billingsly, 65, retired farmer of Hammond and a lifelong resident of Ozark County, died at 8:24 a.m. Saturday at Burge-Protestant following a three year illness.

He was born Jan. 8, 1902, at Hammond, a son of Henry and Margaret Catherwood Billingsly.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lizzie Wallace Billingsly; six sons, Dick Wallace of Ava, Buster Billingsly of Theodosia, Luther Billingsly, of Columbus Junction, La., James Billingsly, of Galva, Ill., Gene Billingsly of Oreon, Ill., and Joe Billingsly of Galva, Ill.; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Pursselley of Galva, Ill.; of Republic, Mrs. Mary Burton, of Annawan, Ill., and Mrs. Judy Stewart of Galva, Ill., a brother, Roy Billingsly of Brookline; three sisters, Mrs. bertha Bowlin of Springfield, Mrs. Dorothy Cole of Stafford, and Mrs. Ruby Collins of Oakland, Ark., 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Thornfield Church by Rev. J. Eli Routh of Springfield. Burial was made in the Thornfield Cemetery under the direction of Clinkingbeard Funeral Home.
