Evelyn Doris Barnes, 90, of Lubbock passed away on October 21, 2014. A graveside service for Evelyn will be held Friday 24, 2014. 10:00 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Park.

Evelyn was born in Ponder, Texas to Lawrence and Lillie Thomas. She was one of the six siblings raised in Acuff, Texas and attended Roosevelt schools.

She had many jobs, one being a chauffeur for airmen at Reese AFB during WWII. She was a member of First Church of Nazarene in Lubbock where she taught Sunday school. She also had a daycare in her home for several years where she loved and guided many lives. She had a gift of making people feel loved and special.

We were blessed to have her for 90 years.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Johnston, her parents and four brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Rayford Frank Barnes; son Steve Barnes and spouse Tania of San Antonio, daughter Mollie Hatcher and spouse Mitch of Lubbock, daughter Judy McNally and spouse Alan of Edmond, OK; 6 grandchildren; Brent, Jarrod, Taylor, Hailey, Jordan and Christopher; three great grandchildren; Abrianna, Seth and Jaxsen; also one brother Glen Thomas of Atlanta, Georgia.
