Mrs. Steill had been a homemaker for most of her life, but after her husband's death, she worked in Purdue University's Life Science builing for five years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and St. Ann's Altar and Aid Society. She also was a Pink Lady for St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary.
Surviving are three daughters, Karen (Mrs. Patrick) McDowell, Lynne (Mrs. Fred) Johnson, both of Crawfordsville, and Judy (Mrs. Thomas) Ketterer of Columbus, OH; a son, Jack Steill of Lafayette; her mother, Alma Barger of Lafayette; a brother, Jack Minniear of Cincinnati, OH; 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Jacob Minniear.
