Longtime Duncan resident, BETTY ZOE SANDERS, 82, departed this life Thursday, March 23, 2006, in her home.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Resthaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jerry Black officiating. Burial will be under direction of Carter-Smart Funeral Home.
Betty was born Jan. 28, 1924, in Pauls Valley, to J.F. and Billie Moreland Trimmer. She married Robert A. Sanders on Feb. 28, 1939, in Vian, where they lived a short time before moving to Duncan. Robert preceded her in death on March 1, 1976.
Betty and Robert owned the renowned Bob's Hamburgers for about 40 to 50 years, serving Duncan residents with their famous ham-burgers and great food. Betty was a member of the Arts Council.
Survivors include two daughters-in-law, Jerry Sue Sanders of Duncan, and Eve Sanders of Honolulu, Hawaii; a sister, Doyne and husband Bill Woodberry of Tulsa; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
She was also preceded in death by her sons, James Robert Sanders, who lived in Duncan, and Richard Michael Sanders, who lived in Honolulu, and a step-grandson.
Bearers will be Butch Cheves, Dixie Jackson, Mike Girod, Jerry Emerson, Hegel Branch Jr. and Mike Grimes.
