“Banks B. “Bony” Barbee , my grandfather, was born March 21, 1871. He married Julia Hassell on December 21, 1895. She was born in Crockett on December 1, 1874, and was the daughter of Charles J. and Frances Warren Hassell. Her father, a native of Georgia, had come to Texas after the Civil War to avoid prosecution by the reconstruction government in Georgia for killing a carpetbagger while defending his father from attack.
BB Barbee died an untimely death on August 14, 1901. His widow moved back into town and raised her three children by working in a general store. Known as Miss Julia by the townspeople, her outgoing and friendly personality were known throughout the community She died on August 11, 1956.” Written by Jack Neel Barbee.

In 1901, Rev. Tenney's reference to burial in Crockett was to Glenwood Cemetery.
