She was a retired registered Nurse and served as a Lieutenant in the Navy during the Korean War. Mrs. Hammes was a member of the Anderson Area Art Association, Fountain Park Chautauqua, Franciscan Society and St. Ambrose Catholic Church.
Surviving are a brother, Paul LeBlanc (wife: Marian); and her children, Mary Duncan (husband: Steve), Robin Wetli (husband: Michael), Roman Hammes (wife: Kris), Elmore Hammes, and Anne Raney (husband: Paul).
