James Eugene Sain, 87, passed away Oct. 20, 2014, in a Mineral Wells nursing home.
Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Mineral Wells Church of God. Burial will follow in Willow Pond Cemetery.
He was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the son of George Washington and Julia Stansill Sain. He married Janeice Glover on Aug. 11, 1953, in Mineral Wells. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2001. He married Lavern Edwards on June 17, 2003, in Mineral Wells.
He moved to Texas when he was 5. He worked for the City of Mineral Wells as a water meter reader for 27 years. He worked as a machinist for Bateman-Lehman Machine Shop for 12 years. He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Mineral Wells Church of God. He loved to play 42 at the Senior Center and sang with the center's Silver Notes, which sang at his and Lavern’s wedding.
He is survived by his wife, Lavern Edwards Sain, of Mineral Wells; daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Bill Adams, of Mineral Wells; son and daughter-in-law, Rickey Dean and Patty Sain, of Mineral Wells; stepsons and spouses, Jesse Allan and Patsy Edwards, of Palo Pinto, and Ricky Lee and Kim Edwards, of Springtown; nine step-grandchildren; 15 step-great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents.
